Code Rocket Designer - Getting Started

Thank you for your interest in Code Rocket Designer. Code Rocket Designer is a software design application that helps you to design and visualize algorithms in detail using our pseudocode and flowchart editors.

This guide will walk through the basic operation of Code Rocket Designer.

Designing an algorithm with pseudocode

  1. Launch Code Rocket Designer from your start menu or desktop.

  2. Make sure that a procedure is selected in the project browser.

  3. Enter the following pseudocode in the pseudocode editor, taking notice of the keywords being highlighted.

  4. As you were typing the pseudocode, the flowchart was being updated.

  5. Switch to the code view.

  6. The code has been generated based on the design.

Designing an algorithm with a flowchart

  1. Launch Code Rocket Designer from your start menu or desktop.

  2. Make sure that a procedure is selected in the project browser.

  3. Drag and drop symbols from the tool bar into the flowchart.

  4. The pseudocode is updated as the flowchart is modified.

  5. Switch to the code view.

  6. The code has been generated based on the design.

Reverse engineering existing code

Code Rocket Designer can also be used to visualize existing code. There are 3 different ways to reverse engineer code which are documented below and in the Walkthroughs section in the help file.

Method 1 - Drag and drop

  1. Launch Code Rocket Designer from your start menu or desktop.

  2. Create a blank Solution.

  3. Drag a code file and drop it on a project in the project browser.

  4. The file will be parsed and the project browser updated.

  5. Click on procedures to view the pseudocode and flowchart.

Method 2 - Right click

  1. Launch Code Rocket Designer from your start menu or desktop.

  2. Create a blank Solution.

    Create a new Solution

  3. Right click on a Project and select Import/Code File.

  4. The file will be parsed and the project browser updated.

Method 3 - Open directly

  1. Launch Code Rocket Designer from your start menu or desktop.

  2. Select File/Open from the main menu.

    Select File/Open

  3. Choose the extension of the source file that you would like to open (e.g. *.cs).

  4. The Project Browser is populated based on imported source file.
