Getting started with Code Rocket in Eclipse

Now that you have installed Code Rocket Eclipse, this guide will introduce you to the basic operation of Code Rocket inside the Eclipse IDE.

Loading the design views

  1. Start Eclipse.
  2. Select Window/Show View/Other... from the main menu.

  3. Select Pseudocode Editor and / or Diagram View and click OK.

  4. The Pseudocode Editor or Diagram View tool windows can now be positioned in the IDE according to your preferences.

Visualising a method in code

  1. Open a Java project.
  2. Position your cursor within any method.

  3. Open up the Pseudocode Editor and/or Diagram View tool windows. They will be automatically populated with the pseudocode and flowchart designs associated with the selected method.

Designing a method

  1. Position your cursor within the method you would like to design. This could be a new, empty method, or an existing method that you wish edit.

  2. Bring forward either the Pseudocode Editor or Diagram View to design your method.
  3. Enter pseudocode by typing the structure of your algorithm (see pseudocode keywords).

  4. Manipulate the flowchart by dragging and dropping symbols from the toolbar onto the diagram (see flowchart symbols).

  5. When you are happy with your design, click on the Commit button in either of the design views to merge your design changes into the code. Skeleton code will be created for any new portions of your design and merged into existing code.

  6. As you make changes to the code, the design views will update accordingly.
